Matt and Lizzie first crossed paths in the halls of JPII High School—Matt a senior, Lizzie a junior. They hit it off instantly at one of their friends’ infamous high school “ragers,” and by February 2016, they were officially dating.

Their story continued even as life began to pull them in new directions. Matt left for Nebraska to play college baseball, and later traded in his cleats for Greek letters when both he and Lizzie found their way to Texas Tech University. There, they built a life together—making lifelong friends, adopting their beloved dog Mary (and later Theo), and creating some of their favorite memories.

After graduation, life took them on different paths once again. Matt moved back to the Dallas area while Lizzie headed to Galveston for graduate school to pursue her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. The distance wasn’t always easy, but it never once dimmed their love. If anything, it made every weekend, every visit, and every shared moment even more meaningful.

Five years of long-distance and nine years of dating later, they found themselves back in Dallas—“adulting” together, though still hardly believing how far they’d come from those high school days. On August 28, 2025, in the backyard of their new home, Matt finally asked Lizzie to marry him.

Today, Matt and Lizzie are not just partners, but best friends—grateful for their journey and excited for everything ahead. They can’t wait to celebrate their love with all their favorite people on September 19, 2026.
